Platja d'Aro got a bad reputation in the 60s and 70s and still has difficulty in shaking that off. There are a number of unattractive high-rise building along the sea front that don't help, but for all that, it is one of the towns that definitely does not die in winter and that can be an important factor in deciding where to settle. There are plenty of pleasant restaurants and bars, and a lively nightlife.
It is also home to one of the best protected, but small, marinas along this coast. |

Inland there are a number of pleasant developments that can be of interest. Prices are much lower than in the smart resorts around Begur and Palafrugell.
Neighbouring Santa Cristina is home to one of the best of the local golf courses with houses built on and around it. There is also the prestigious Mas Nou golf course that also has quality housing as an integral part of the project.
Although Platja d'Aro may not itself be quite what you are looking for, properties around there and listed under that heading may well be of interest.
