This is the market town around which many of the most attractive resort towns of the region revolve. Tamariu, Llafranc, and Calella are all three administratively part of Palafrugell. It used to be a centre of the cork industry, but that has almost died out, although Palafrugell's most distinctive landmark was once the property of Crown Cork. There is a daily food market (very over-priced in summer), and the main square is a pleasant spot to while away half an hour. House building continues at a furious pace, but it is not in Palafrugell itself that many non-Spaniards seek their second home. |
