Pals itself is one of the best preserved medieval towns in Catalonia. True there has been much restoration, but the town (together with nearby Peratallada) are fine examples of how to encourage local residents to preserve their own history.
In the context of this site, Pals is interesting not only for its own sake, but because all the housing of Playa de Pals comes under its administration. It is one of the areas with the highest concentrations of British, French, Germans, Dutch, and Belgians anywhere on the Costa Brava, rivalled only perhaps by neighbouring Begur. It is easy to understand why. There are 3 golf clubs within the immediate vicinity, several luxury hotels, some outstanding restaurants, and housing to suit all tastes and pockets. It should be high on your priority list.
